09.03.2024 - It was a beautiful Saturday. With glorious sunshine and birdsong, we opened the doors to all those interested and curious. From 9.00 a.m., our student guides led tours of the building every hour and answered questions. The children of the all-day program "School Radio" opened our event and provided information about all program items. Just like last year, we held the open day together with the Little Stars after-school care center. Interested children were able to take part in a rally that led through both buildings. They were rewarded with great prizes at the end for completing the various stations.
The visitors were offered a colorful potpourri of different program items. The children of the GTA "Dance Academy" and "Young Musicians" gave a performance in which they danced and sang. Our treasure hunt, various games and testing the senses of hearing, sight, smell and touch in the sensory room were also great fun. There was so much interest that the children even queued up with their parents. Little works of art were created by writing with pen and ink and the children were able to take part in a real English lesson with our native speakers and get a first feel for what a lesson is like. Food and drink were also provided. Visitors enjoyed a coffee or an apple spritzer with savory or sweet waffles, cakes or wieners. There was also an exhibition of pupils' work. Among other things, visitors were able to admire various pieces of woodwork from the crafts department, a Grüffelo theater from the German department and posters on environmental protection and space. There were also country posters, forest models, quadramas on various religions and math lapbooks on multiplication tables and numbers up to 1000. In our school, Spanish is taught from Year 3 onwards. This was introduced and some questions from interested parents were answered. Even the first Spanish words were spoken. As at every festival, face painting and dressing up were a hit with the children.
All in all, it was a very successful day with lots of great conversations and moments. All of this is only possible with the active help of our fantastic parents and supporters - thank you very much. We were delighted with the interest shown in our International Primary School.
