On 21.10.25, the IPSG penguins went into the underground passages of the town of Geithain. At 08.40, wrapped up nice and warm, we set off in the direction of the Nicolai Church. Mr. Niemann from the museum in Geithain was waiting for us here. He led us through creepy but also exciting corridors and we learned a lot about the history of Geithain along the way. There were even crafts from the old days to marvel at. The penguins were also allowed to be cave explorers and lend a hand themselves by working on old walls with hammers and chisels. A few ghosts awaited us in some of the corridors, in keeping with the October and Halloween season. However, the children in class 1a were brave and dared to enter each of the underground passages. After an hour of amazement and horror, we went back out into the daylight, where we thanked Mr. Niemann and continued on into the autumnal city park.
Another task awaited the 1a in the city park: collecting leaves. We familiarized ourselves with some representatives of our local deciduous trees for a small herbarium for our science lessons and then pressed the collected leaves at school. Luckily, the weather was great and we had a great time in the colorful city park. We are already looking forward to our next hiking day!
